Zonke Mchunu is popularly known as Imani Nkosi on Muvhango. Her character was terminated by the producers and she was released from the soapie as they did not have more plans regarding her Imani character. Zonke is a talented young actor who is ready to face any show in the acting industry.

Zonke studied drama at the Durban University of Technology and graduated last year in April. She is now looking for more acting roles as her Imani role on Muvhango was a short one and there are no plans to bring it back as she was reported dead and buried.

She met Duma Ndlovu through Uzalo as she was one of the singers on Uzalo’s church choir. Uzalo and Duma ran workshops for newcomer actors before Uzalo premiered and she met Duma at the workshops. He told her about the role of Imani, encouraged her to audition and she landed the role after multiple screen-tests.

She grew up in the rural area of Kwamaphumulo near Stanger in KZN and moved to Durban in 2010. After school she went to Berea Tech to study Civil Engineering but she couldn’t finish because of financial problems at home. She applied for financial aid at the Durban University of Technology and they accepted her for drama.

Catch Muvhango on SABC2 weekdays at 21h00.
