Many remember him for his unforgettable performance as Javas on Yizo-Yizo and as Vusi Moletsane on Isidingo but the actor has had his fair share of hard times.

Meshack who also played the role of Simiso Mtshali in the second and third seasons of the SABC2 police procedural series Zero Tolerance has seen his bank balance go through so many ups and downs.

In a recent interview with Metro FM, Meshack said that he had been broke a couple of times but recalls one particular time it was so bad, he didn’t even have a car and his house was on the verge of being repossessed.

“There was a point where I didn’t even have a car (anymore). I remember they wanted to repossess our house at some point. It was so terrible. People would come and view the house and my daughter would say; ‘What are they doing here? Why do they want to take our home?’ I would go into the toilet and sit there and cry.” he said.

In 2016 Mavuso finally caught another break when he landed his first starring role since his Isidingo contract expired in the robbery drama Heist, playing the role of Chairperson – the police commander who makes it his mission to catch the gang.

That role was just what he needed and it has opened more doors for him as he is now also on the soapie Rythm City and Mzansi Magic’s Isithembiso.
