GBV (which disproportionately affects women and girls) is systemic, and deeply entrenched in institutions, cultures and traditions in South Africa.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the country will tighten laws on gender based violence and sexual offences which have been widespread in the rainbow nation.

On twitter a man named Themba is trending as a video goes viral of him beating his girlfriend.

This video is shared to help identify the victim which will lead to the arrest of the abuser. We need as members of human race to track this woman down and rescue her from this monster who is stinky coward. The woman is being beaten up for receiving a message from those loose men in WhatsApp grouos who target women and ask them out. My sister run if you can, go seek help and dump this looser. No one deserves this. I emailed ANC women’s league to help look for this woman. This destroyed me big time and this guy should be jailed #genderbasedviolencemustfall
