It’s inevitable that we’re all going to leave this earth one day, but what is also a fact is that death is something no one can ever get used to, no matter how often it happens.
This year has been extremely difficult for the South African entertainment industry. This article is dedicated to all the young artists and entertainers we lost in 2018.
Owethu Enhle Gambushe
Owethu’s passing was a huge blow to the cast and crew members of Imbewu, considering that this show only started airing this year.
The actress passed away in September when the car she was in lost control. She and another young lady lost their lives and died on the scene, Owethu was in her early 20ss when she died.
Akhumzi Jezile, Siyasanga Kobese and Thobani Mseleni
Akhumzi, Siyasanga and Thobani’s passing shook not only the entertainment industry, but the nation as a whole. The industry lost all three at the same time and at the peak of their careers, a sad loss this was indeed.
Afrotainment producer Sir Bubzin, aka Bongani Cele, lost his battle with cancer this year. Sir Bubzin was only 37 years old when he passed away in August.
The actress took her own life in September after suffering from clinical depression, a week after Enhle Gambushe’s death. Shoki was only 34 years old.
The 9th of August was a sombre day for all local hip hop heads who appreciated this man’s music, as the news of his passing became known to the general public. Pro was only 37 years old.
As the year came to a near end, the entertainment industry was hit with another blow when HHP took his own life back in October. His family and son was hit with another devastating blow when the mother of his child, Lerato Khanye, also passed on a month after his death. HHP was only 38 years old.
